I am continuing to work on a quilt for my son, and I have the squares assembled. There are 12 squares each measuring 16.5 X 16.5 inches. Tonight I will be cutting the sashing and cornerstones. I am hoping next week I can begin quilting with some stitch in the ditch along with meandering for fill.
There is one half-square triangle that should be considered a mulligan (do-over), but I haven't decided yet if I will indeed rip it out from the assembled square. I know he would never notice it's peculiar shape nor would he care. I have to remember that this is only my second quilt and it is a learning process. In other words, it doesn't have to be perfect especially when a dysfunctional person is making it.
I can't wait to start on my next quilt and I have ordered a pattern or two from The Gourmet Quilter. She inspires me and I love all of her tutorials on her blog and You Tube.
Have a sunny day!

Monday..... A New Week
It's time I get down to business, set some goals to finish a few projects. Since I am new to quilting I have been watching a great deal of videos on YouTube. I have learned quite a bit from The Gourmet Quilter. I would love to participate in her mystery quilt series but I want to finish the quilt for my son. Also my knitting project Hikers Waistcoat has been on the back burner.
I can't believe I began writing this post on Monday and now it's Thursday. Yep, always dysfunctional. Oh well... There's always next week.
The first three days of April, we have had snow. I'll just keep waiting for spring.

It's Hip to Be Square
I am in the process of making a quilt for my son, Scott. For fabric colors we decided on shades of black, red and gray. Obviously, he doesn't want anything that looks feminine. The pattern is called Modern Victorian Quilt by Vanessa, The Crafty Gemini. I have my first 16 inch block laid out and ready to be sewn together.
And Rosie helped me select the fabrics.
It is a fun and quick pattern, so far..... I can't wait to sew it together. My fingers are crossed that my points will meet.
Have a knitty and quilty day!
Toodles....

Pillow Talk
Since my knitting project has become the project from hell, I took a little break to make a couple of pillowcases for one of my nieces. I just happened to have this material in my stash and, as she recently won an award for something related to entomology, I thought this fabric would be appropriate.
As for a little pillow talk.... here's Bad Dog AKA Rosie having a little pillow time!

Where has the time gone?
I have to admit that I do miss blogging. When I looked back, I saw a journal of my life.... The good and the bad. I did not blog at all in 2012 and, therefore, I have no journal of my dysfunctional life. DANG! So for 2013 I pledge to at least blog 12 times and show pix of my accomplishments and failures. I could call that a new year's resolution, but I already declared my resolutions and have successfully completed them.
2013 Resolutions: #1 Have at least one breakfast of (champions) chocolates..... And I did that on New Year's Day. I can check that off as a completion and I also exceeded that resolution. I've done that for one week! Hallelujah!!!!!!
#2 Take up knitting again. Yep, I have now frogged three projects that I know I would never finish because I can't find the pattern. Also, what the heck was I thinking during the cast-on? Projects were frogged and the yarn is just begging to be used in some capacity.
#3 My 3rd resolution was to leave my after-the-shower wet towel on the floor for at least 24 hours. I did that two consecutive days, which is really great for me because that is a pet-peeve of mine. I truly don't understand how DH can do that 365 days a year! I rescued a dog in 2012....I am not sure what I was thinking at that time either... But I love Rosie dearly.
Toodles.....

Summer in Full Swing
Summer is flying by.... In fact, some of my flowers have already peaked. I participated in two triathlons (swim, bike, run) this summer. The first one was a very small tri through the YMCA, called Try-A-Tri. It was put together by Kelly Covert, a Level 1 triathlon trainer at the YMCA in Central New York. By the way, she is a great tri-athlete.
The tri consisted of swimming 400 yards, biking 9 miles (and was it ever hilly), and running 1.5 miles. Shorter distances than the usual triathlon, but this tri was to get your feet wet and get a taste of triathlons.
The tri took place at the Cato-Meridian Recreational Center. Here's a picture of me and a friend getting ready to swim. Aren't the goggles and cap wonderful accessories?!!?! I'm wearing the black and white tri-suit with the blue swim cap.
This is a picture of the small group that participated in the Cato Try-A-Tri. I'm in the mix wearing my son's green sun visor for good luck, and it did bring me good luck. I washappy content with my overall time.
It was a fun event and I would highly recommend it for anyone's first triathlon. More later about my second tri - Iron Girl. Hope you are having a great summer! Oh, and I have a little knitting to show later!

Please Salute Our Armed Services
This past week has been very sorrowful for Baldwinsville, NY, and Central New York in general. We lost a very loving soldier who wanted to defend our country at any cost. Please pray for his family, and please thank God for our freedom. Corporal Kyle Schneider. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2011/07/kyle_schneider_dies_in_afghani.html He graduated a year behind my son, who is healthy and working on his doctorite in industrial engineering.
Kyle Schneider is a child of God, who fought for our freedom, and I pray that he is happy in the afterlife. God Bless Him!!
