Me and Mr. Effer

So between me and the hubby, one would think that we would have a brain.... I am talking one full brain.  Instead we still have only half a brain when combined.

I was having trouble with my "clickers," which are new to me, so my husband adjusted them.  The shoe locks into the bike pedal, so you can perform a push-pull action when pedaling.

The new biking shoes of which I am totally clueless on how to use.

The lollipop pedals....

I was having trouble locking in... so the great man that I married adjusted them.  Keep in mind, he has no experience with this type of bike shoe, nor do I.  After he adjusted them, I told him before we go out on a ride, I should try them out.  But did I do that?  No sirree.  We loaded the bikes into the van,
drove out to Phoenix strip mall, parked, unloaded the bikes, I put on my shoes, and we took off on the bikes.  I had to stop because of oncoming traffic so I could cross Rte 57.  I could not get my shoes unlocked from the pedals.  Panic set in.... I became hysterical and quickly turned to keep riding in the parking lot. Screaming ensued.... I can't get my feet out.  I struggled and struggled and finally got my shoes freed from the pedals so I could stop.  In the meantime, my husband is riding back to the van and jumping off his bike so he can help me stop.  Yep, we looked like a couple of clowns.

Luckily, in the strip mall there was a Family Dollar store and he went in and purchased a screw driver so he could adjust my clickers.  Once adjusted and I could once again click in and out of the  pedal, we took off on our bikes for a beautiful 13-mile ride.  Maybe the 13 was unlucky???  Who knows... but we had a beautiful afternoon and today we are laughing about our episode.  At the time, I really felt like I was going to crash.  I never thought about just taking my feet out of the darn shoes.  Oh well... we live and learn.

Maybe I should knit more!
