Panic!

I am so glad this week is coming to an end. Last Sunday I received a phone call from my sister in St. Louis that she was in the emergency room with my daughter, Kristen. Kris attends college in Missouri. So after I received the phone call, I began packing a suitcase. My sister calls back about an hour later and says they are admitting her because she is having a gallbladder attack and they want to do surgery. The sonogram confirmed the presence of gallstones and that the gallbladder problem was chronic. Chronic has now turned into acute, so therefore the surgeon wants to do surgery.

Wait! This is happening too fast for my brain to process. Can't get a decent flight from Syracuse to St. Louis. So I hopped in my car and started driving down the Thruway towards Rochester and Buffalo. Husband isn't home.... Damn where is he when I need him? Finally reach my husband and tell him to look at flights and call me back. He books me a flight from Buffalo to St. Louis. Perfect.... I was driving on the Thruway near Buffalo when he called me back. What was I thinking? Why did I get in my car and start driving? At least I headed West. Was I planning on driving to St. Louis if I didn't get a flight out of Buffalo? Who knows. One doesn't think clearly when panic sets in.

The surgery went well, and now Kristen is feeling okay. Just a little sore, but moving around more and more each day. It was wonderful seeing her even under those circumstances. I miss her so much.

But on the bright side of things, this week I got to see both kids. Although brief, I did get to see Scott as he was home from college this week on spring break. Yep, I saw him for about 2 hours on Friday night.

Now on with knitterly things. Lookie, lookie!I won a contest on Laurie's blog, and she sent me beautiful stitch markers. They are absolutely stunning. I have to admit that all of my stitch markers are made from plastic.... just simple.... nothin' fancy... purchased from a craft store or two. But now I can show off!!! I also won a bid on Ebay for Rowan Magazine #36. There are sooooo many patterns in this mag that I want to knit. I just can't stand it. But I first have to finish knitting Silk Tweed Sweater for Kristen, which is pictured under the markers and mag. I am loving this pattern. I have the back knitted and am almost finished with the front. Hopefully I will start the sleeves this weekend. And then it will be time for finishing... darn, I dread the finishing part.

Toodles..... I'm off to do some serious knitting and catch up on everyone's blog!
