I had to frog the first two attempts as the thumbs had a phallic quality! And after consuming large quantities of warm chocolate milk and eating Keebler chocolate chip cookies, I finally finished them in the wee hours of the morning. And I love them, love them, love them.
So Tuesday I will be running to the post office to mail them to my darling daughter along with the My So Called Scarf. I hope she likes them.
It truly feels great to have met the deadline for the Bitchin' Mittens.
Vital Statistics:
Born: September 4, 2006, 4 a.m.
Anticipated due date: September 4, 2006. Arrived on time!
Pattern: Knitting by the seat of my pants. (No pattern for the mittens. Stitch pattern is a herringbone pattern used for the My So Called Scarf.)
DNA: Donnegan Tweed. Color: I no longer have the color number, but the yarn is a purple tweed with bits of orange, blue and lime green. Knitted on size 6 and 8 straight needles. The first mittens I've ever knitted using this method. I much prefer knitting with DPNs. But then again, I didn't have a pattern!
Once again, whew, I made it just under the wire!
