Mrs. Z

We have lived in our house for approximately 15 years. A family of four. So we thought. Soon after we moved into our home, it became apparent that we were not alone. I didn't think that I believed in ghosts? Or did I?

Every night after tucking the kids into bed, Mr. Effer and I would descend the stairs and sit in the family room for awhile before retreating to bed. So as we sat in the family room with the dog at our feet, we would hear the sound of someone walking up the stairs and down the hall towards the kids' bedrooms. At first Mr. Effer excused the noises as "settling noises".... the furnace or the air conditioner, depending on the season. Then one night, he became a believer.

We were getting ready for bed, and I turned on the tv in our bedroom. There was a program on about ghosts. As a candle was mysteriously extinguished in the program, our bedroom light turned off for no apparent reason. The timing was perfect. We both just looked at each other in disbelief. Then as I reached for the light switch, our bedroom lamp came on again.

That night we named our spirit, Mrs. Z. She was the woman who lived and died in our house. She had the same profession as myself and worked at the same hospital where I'm employed. We've been told that Mrs. Z died in her late 30s or early 40s of a ruptured brain aneurysm. And I guess you could say we have a family history of aneurysms. Both my father and paternal grandfather were recipients of big, bursting aneurysms.

So that was our beginning with Mrs. Z. But definitely not the end of her.

I wonder if she knits?

'Nuff Said

Well, I tried to close down my blog but just couldn't do it. I guess it's just another addiction in my life.... bloggin', knitting, spinning, surfing, eating chocolate.... So I guess I'm up and running again. As Mia would say, "'Nuff said."

Thanks for all your wonderful comments. They are always appreciated. It's just tough finding time for everything.

Last week I had family visiting from St. Louis, and now the house is empty again. So Mr. Effer and I spent the day together, just the two of us. A little fishin' on his part, and a little knittin' on my part. We went to Oswego, NY, so he could throw in a line while I knitted.

Then we had lunch at Coleman's Authentic Irish Pub.
Yep, the grub was good and the beer was cold. We sat outside on the deck and watched the boats come into the harbor. It truly was a lovely afternoon. (Insert sigh.... now it's time to get back to reality.... I have to sleep this afternoon because I'm working 7 PM to 7 AM tonight.)
