Secret Pal 7

This morning I was reading a post on Stoned Knitter's blog site about her Secret Pal from England. Can you believe she got a pal from England? I am so jealous; I've always wanted an international secret pal. I'm not sure why, but I just would want someone from Bora Bora, New Zealand, Germany, South Africa, etc. Do they knit in South Africa? I just love learning about different cultures and, in particular, what they like to drink. For instance, did you know that women primarily make the Honey Wine in Ethiopia? I say if it's good enough for the Queen of Sheba to drink, then it's good enough for me! I love that wine but sometimes it's hard to find at the local liquor stores. Yep, liquor stores is plural; we have three in the little town of Baldwinsville. Oh, and by the way, I know someone who has bee hives; maybe this could be a future endeavor: making B'ville Honey Wine!

So since I didn't sign up for SP7, I guess I'll just have to treat myself. Yep, my secret pal (Mr. Effer) is going to buy me something today. I guess I'll do a little internet shopping with his credit card. I just love my secret pal!!!!

Lazy Day!

Do you remember the song "Lazy Day by Spanky & Our Gang?" Okay, I'm dating myself here, but what the heck. That tune has been going through my head all day as I relax and do nothing but knit. Yesterday I worked a 17.5 hour day, and I am totally exhausted. It is frightening to see the hospitals so short staffed. Our emergency room was on diversion yesterday and the hospital could not accept any patients due to staffing problems. This happens to the Syracuse hospitals often so it's not a big deal, just routine. I only agreed to stay after I negotiated an extra day off this week and overtime with enhanced pay. I've been doing a lot of negotiating lately!!!!

So I said I'm sitting around knitting. Yep, I decided to cast on a project since my spinning wheel hasn't arrived yet. I swear they are chopping down the tree and hand carving the sucker! Well, it's really not a project I'm working on, just another pair of felted mittens for a kid in our neighborhood at special request.

Short post, lazy day..... feet up, needles in hand, Bailey's in the glass!
