Mittens!

This past week I made a pair of felted mittens for DD, Kristen. I hope she likes the colors as I tend to knit with grays, blacks and neutrals, so these colors should shock her. The pattern is from Beverly Galeskas' book Felted Knits. I purchased the yarn at Rhinebeck, and it's Filatura Lanarota Chaco worsted weight 100% wool. It felted beautifully and was relatively inexpensive.

Only one major boo-boo while knitting: I made two right mittens and was all the way to knitting the thumb when I realized I misread the pattern. So I guess I'll have to finish it and knit a left mitten. I won't be very color coordinated when I wear them with my beige and black coat, but they should be good for a mean snowball fight with Mr. Effer!

A Knitters Nightmare

I can't believe it has been almost two weeks since I've posted. As usual, my job is sucking the life out of me. Anyhoo, I experienced a knitters nightmare two weeks ago on a Sunday night. I was coming home from work and had a damn flat tire. I had to wait 45 minutes to an hour for Triple A, and I didn't have my knitting with me!!!

As you well know, my knitting bag had just undergone a catharsis, and I had not placed it back into my car. It was absolutely horrible sitting alongside the highway with nothing to do but listen to the radio and count cars as they sped by.

I will never, never venture out of the house again without my knitting bag, no matter how heavy or overflowing it may be!
