RHINEBECK....Here we come! If you want to meet other knitters/bloggers, plan on meeting at the entrance of building 26 at noon on Saturday. If there are two entrances/exits, meet at the entrance closest to the main gait! Woohoo! I just heard that Erin (Skein Street) is going, too! I also talked with Marlea who lives in Jordan/Elbridge, NY, and she is planning on attending. Did you know she has alpacas? She has been holding out on us! I told her she definitely needs to start a blog and post pictures of her critters, fiber and spinning wheel. Yep, she's a spinner!
I am having palpitations due to my anxiety! I just love Rhinebeck!
And Marlea gave the best advice about Rhinebeck and being prepared: Bring money, lots of money! Bringing along someone with a big fat wallet or a credit card with no limit will also work!

You Just Know.....
You just know it's going to be a great day when you open a new box of cereal and the prize is lying on top just waiting for you. What a way to start the day! So the lyrics weebles wobble but they don't fall down is stuck in my head!I got up at 6:30 a.m. and started taking inventory of my yarns and knitting needles. Last year one of the vendors at Rhinebeck had a great deal on Plymouth bamboo needles, which isn't my favorite brand but will do in a pinch. I also started looking at patterns and the weight and amount of yarn I need for the patterns that I want to knit this winter. So now I feel prepared for Rhinebeck. Do I sound organized? Had you fooled, didn't I? Once I get there, I'll be so excited that I won't even check my list, and I won't be able to stay focused or stay on task. I have never been able to overcome that problem; but then again, I'm not sure if I have ever given it much effort.
On a sad note, my good friend Jen is moving to Florida, taking a job at another long term care facility. It is sad to have a good friend and drinking partner move so far away. I worked with Jen at a nursing home, and we started a group called Knitwits, Dimwits and Hookers. The Knitwits were the knitters, the Dimwits were the people that joined our group just for the craziness, and the Hookers were the coworkers that crocheted. We got together at lunch and would do our thing. Even the administrator would stop in and have a few laughs with us. We were so loud and crazy, that we had to keep the conference room door closed so as not to disturb anyone. After I left that nursing home, we continued to meet at least twice a month and sometimes weekly. Now Jen is off to Florida to make the final arrangements of her big move. I am so proud of Jen. She has matured into an accomplished professional. She is also a great friend, nurse, and knitter. I will miss my knitting partner who spontaneously calls me and says meet me at the Retreat for a snort! This past summer we had many evenings where she was floating on a raft in my pool with a beer in one hand and a knitting book on her lap. So now Anne (another good friend, nurse and knitter) and I will be lonely without our Jen. I had many firsts with Jen... She once took me into an adult store to purchase a gag gift for Anne. She introduced me to knitting with bulky weight yarn for a quick knit and to hard lemon drinks that make you pucker! Once she made some smoothie concoction that tasted like a Jolly Rancher. I wish Jen the best of luck both personally and professionally. Come back and visit!

I'm Flashin', Baby!
Here's a picture of my closet stash.....
Okay, I'll admit that I still have yarn in the piano bench, under my bed and a few skeins in the dining room. This is the stash that I keep in my closet.
JessaLu informed me that you shouldn't be tagging others until you've flashed. So I'm officially flashing, and Susan, Erin and Sandra consider yourself officially tagged. Just think I'm headed to Rhinebeck on Saturday for more goodies. I am so excited. Tonight I am taking inventory of my needles, yarn and patterns so I know exactly what I'm looking for. I am off work tomorrow (Thursday) so I have plenty of time to prepare for Rhinebeck. I have the day off because I have to travel to Albany for a nursing seminar on hemo and peritoneal dialysis. Doesn't that sound interesting? From Albany, I will set out for Rhinebeck Saturday morning. I am so excited that I have the attention span of a flea!
I had so much fun at Rhinebeck last year that I just have to experience it again. I'll be lonely without my knitbuds, but unfortunately it just didn't work out that we could all ride together. I anticipate buying mega quantities of yarn. Last year I purchased 40 skeins of Galway in addition to other wool.
I definitely want to try out some spinning wheels while at Rhinebeck as I'm just dying to spin! Mr. Effer told me that it would be cheaper to get a thrill from watching Wheel of Fortune. I think not! He just doesn't get it.
Anyone else going to Rhinebeck?

Got Glasses?
I found my glasses and finished the baby blanket for Riviera, which is the great-niece to be. The family refers to the baby as Riviera because we believe conception occurred at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas when the family was there vacationing. However, Brett and Valerie are denying this. I'm glad I didn't make the trip; I couldn't afford another money-sucking kid! Yep, my husband's family is as dyfunctional as mine!

I haven't been blogging as much lately because I've been working some long-ass hours: twelve to thirteen hour days. As soon as I get home, I assume my usual position: Legs 'N Air. I just love that nickname! My feet always hurt, so I lay down on my back and extend my legs into the air. I feel great after doing that for half an hour. (And if you're wondering, I do knit with my legs in the air!) It is a little unusual, but then this is coming from a person who has an inversion table and inverts every night before she goes to bed.
I haven't dug my stash out yet, but will do so soon! So in the meantime, I am tagging Susan, Erin, and Sandra.
Well, I better move on because I have a lot of catching up to do as I haven't visited your blogs in about a week! And I am wondering what all of you have been knitting and what Kate from OddBall Knittery and Liz from Lizzie's Yarns have been drinking (I mean knitting)!
Toodles......
