As The Family Grows

There's going to be an addition to the family, and I'm going to be a great aunt again. So last night I casted on 186 stitches for a baby blanket. Yep, we're having a baby girl.

I'm knitting with acrylic (insert facial grimmace), for the ease of care for mom and dad. Call me lazy, but when the kids were babies, I threw everything in the washer and dryer. I couldn't think about handwashing something or laying it out flat to dry.

Short post for today, I'm feeling a little cranky!

Hope everyone has a nice day. Toodles....

Check This Out!

Wendy is having a photo scavenger hunt for bloggers. I say count me in, and the race is on. So ladies and gents start your engines! I think I might need Susan's help, though. I couldn't talk Dan into entering a public ladies room to take my picture while I'm doin' a little art work on a wall. Too bad Scott is off to college, his bathroom closely resembled and smelled like a public restroom. It was always a mess. Before entering, I would get a tetnus shot and donn a hazmat suit.
With this suit, which is disposable, you can clean anything and feel safe. I no longer have to purchase these suits in bulk since BigGuy is off to college.

Now back to the scavenger hunt, anyone interested? Don't forget, check out Wendy's blog for the rules and the list of items. My plan was to clean the house today, but I guess I'll play the game instead. So I'm off to Wallyworld to get a picture of the greeter frowning then I'm going to remove all but one hubcap off of Dan's car!

Simon Says....

Simon says, "I'm getting a new hoodie!" Yep, he'll be the mean green eating machine in this little sweater. The last of the neverending finishing was completed this evening! Well, almost -- minus the buttons. So I'll be button shopping tomorrow.

I can't wait to see the little chubbers wearing his new hoodie. Knitting for the wee folks is so much fun and rewarding. When the kids get older, the teenage years, they are too selective in what they will and will not wear. So I stick to knitting for the wee ones unless there's a special request.

Toodles.....

The Slump!

I think I've been in a bit of a knitting slump. Between the aching shoulders and the lack of yarn acquisitions, there has been very little knitting going on in the Frenzzee household. I haven't purchased a substantial amount of yarn this summer because of upcoming events: Fingerlakes Fiber Arts Festival, Stitches East, and NYS Sheep and Wool Festival at Rhinebeck. So this summer I've been in a stupor of not buying yarn, and I've noticed that I don't knit as much when I'm not in the LYS looking for new acquisitions. How sad is that?

I could look at the yarn in my stash for motivation, but the satisfaction just isn't there when I peak into shopping bags, plastic bags and rubbermaid containers. Perhaps I need to take one of the spare bedrooms and turn it into a knitting room with the stash arranged in an attractive fashion. Could it be that I need to hear the cha-ching of the cash register or I need to feel the sweep of the credit card for excitement and motivation? It is a pitiful malady, but I know all yarnaholics suffer from this disease.

I did not meet the August Stashbuster's deadline; I always drag my feet when finishing a sweater. But today I'm going to attack it with a skip and a hop because I can't wait to send it to adorable little Simon!

I Am Evil!

Oh my, I've been bad again. But before I tell you about the mischief I've been up to, I'll update you on knitting news. I'm still working on Simon's little hoodie. I didn't get much knitting done this week because of shoulder problems again. I currently have a frozen right shoulder which has partially thawed. In other words, it now has about 70% range of motion, which is a good deal better than the initial 15%. And in addition to the right shoulder problem, I'm currently having problems with my left shoulder. So I took the week off from knitting and ate anti-inflammatories as my main course this week, hoping to avoid a frozen left shoulder. Though I don't think the time off from knitting helped much.

Okay, now back to my mischief. Dan has been working a great deal of overtime this summer, so I thought it was time for a little get-away weekend. When I mentioned it to him, he was so ready to pack his bags and go. (You know how men are about hotel sex.) I told him that I would plan the weekend. So guess where we are going? To Atlantic City on the weekend of the Stitches East convention!!!

He has no idea about the convention or my plan: an all day shopping spree at Stitches East on Saturday, September 24th. He can either come along with me and carry my packages or spend the day at a casino. I haven't decided how I'm going to break the news to him, but it certainly won't be prior to leaving for the trip (insert evil laugh!). It's so much fun to abuse him! But don't worry, he always gets revenge. I'm sure when the camera was missing for two weeks and was found in his rolltop desk, it was a payback for something I did.
