What a beautiful Saturday morning.... the sun is shining and I am home alone. Kristen is away at college, Scott is working and my husband is in Las Vegas. Wow! There is silence in the house. Just me and the dog, Sammy.
So what did I choose to do on this beautiful spring morning? I chose to stay in my pajammies, eat Girl Scout cookies and knit. It does sound a little dysfunctional; however, it was good for the soul. I only had one disappointing moment: When I opened the box of Trefoil cookies, there was no sugar sprinkled on them. When did this change? I know as Americans we are trying to eat healthier. But why ruin a box of cookies. Cookies are not meant to be healthy food. They serve the purpose of feeding the soul with a little indulgence. I use the term "a little" because if I really wanted to indulge, I would have had chocolate.
Well, enough said about the lack of sugar sprinkling on Trefoils. I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles. My knitting time was wonderful. I have three projects on needles: a Wonderful Wallaby sweater, a Sirdar pullover and Old Shale socks. I worked on the sock, which is being knit in Brown Sheep Company's Wildfoote and the color is Columbine. The color is ohhh soooo yummy.

Just a little more yarn....
Yep, just a little more yarn to add to the stash. Today after work, my friend Dawn and I went to the LYS, The Knitting Connection, and I bought more yarn. Even though I told myself I would only buy one skein of sock yarn for the toe and heel for a pair of socks that I'm about to begin knitting, I still bought more than I need at the present time.... 8 skeins of sock yarn just happened to fall into my hands. My credit card was just begging to jump out of my wallet and get a little exercise.
So since my husband left for Las Vegas on Saturday, I have been to two yarn shops in three days. On Sunday I went to Mission Rose Quiltery and Yarn Shop with Becky and Susan. There I bought some bulky superwash wool to make a cardigan sweater for one of my nieces. I'll post pictures of my new purchases when DH gets back with the digital camera.
Back to today's events... After the Knitting Connection, Dawn and I went to Juanita's Mexican Restaurant and chowed down. The food was very good with large portions. And when do I plan on starting my diet? I guess it will have to be tomorrow. There's nothing like shopping and then stopping for dinner.
To end my day, I must, I must knit, knit, knit. Still working on a Wallaby for my niece, Madison.

Leaving on a Jet Plane
I'm leaving on a jet plane... the song is swirling around in my head this morning. Even though I'm not leaving, my husband took off for Las Vegas today. He is going on vacation with his family. I was planning on going but my vacation was canceled due to work obligations. Oh well! Now there will be plenty of time for knitting without feeling guilty about housework, preparing dinner, etc. I use the term preparing dinner loosely... this can refer to picking up Chinese, unwrapping a cheeseburger from McDonalds or even putting a box of cereal on the kitchen table and yelling GYO! BTW, that means "get your own." For instance on St. Patrick's Day, I put a box of Lucky Charms on the table and told them that's about as Irish of a meal as they were going to get in this household.
